Gabe's Price (subject to change though not of the sudden and shocking variety):
$12/hour for time spent fixing actual problems
$6/hour for time spent failing to fix actual problems
Gabe may take used computer parts in exchange for services.
Gabe lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If you live somewhere else, he may require
money f/or transportation.
Gabe is an experienced amateur/professional or "AM-PRO". He has extensive knowledge which grows with
every hour he spends messing with computers; more than a number of people out there who call themselves
professionals. Gabe knows better, so he calls himself an AM-PRO. One of his goals in life is to know
everything there is to know about computers. Another one of his goals is pay back his parents all the
money he's borrowed over the years. Basically he is the 'nephew who knows about computers' for all of
you who don't have one.
Gabe works on site (he comes to you) because chances are there is more
space where you are than where Gabe lives. Gabe loves to talk with you about
your computer or anything else that's on your mind.
Gabe's limitations:
Gabe carries only a small stock of computer parts, because a large stock would
be too heavy. However, he does know where to get most of parts you need
quickly or cheaply (sometimes both!)
Gabe only works for private individuals except by special arrangement.
Gabe is not certified in any way shape or form. He does have a B.A. in computer science.
Gabe does not do warranty service.
Gabe may be busy, on vacation, asleep, at his "real" job or otherwise engaged. He will at the
very least give you some more-or-less sage advice and feel real guilty that he doesn't have time to fix your
computer.
Gabe lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He likes it there. He does not want to
move to the coasts, except maybe the "North Coast." He's heard it's beautiful "up" there. He does
not want to work for Microsoft. He will not be bribed away from his utopian (if somewhat downscale)
lifestyle. He is adamant about this. Well, pretty adamant, anyway.
Gabe's Satisfaction guarantee:
If you are not satisfied with Gabe's work, he will feel very guilty and not
be at all self righteous and probably do something nice for you, even if you
don't deserve it. No other guarantees are implied because there are none. Many of his
customers have been satisfied. Some have not been. Some have been downright whiney. Gabe
has been as nice as he could manage to them, what with all the whining affecting his
concentration.
